Artory acquired the art database Auction Club in 2019. With the acquisition, we obtained more than 22 million individual records, dating as far back as 1985, from 4,000 auction houses and 250 art-related businesses in 40 different countries. On the subject of the purchase, Nanne Dekking stated: “We are about connecting buyers and market players. While other platforms serve as a marketplace for selling art through fractional ownership or direct sales, we are partnering with the institutions to provide a service.” Since then, Artory has been launching these same auction records on our free, public Registry on www.artory.com. We encourage you to search the data in the Artory Registry as it is an open and transparent resource for those interested in tracking digital provenance, searching sales history, and conducting due diligence. In making these records available to the public without any fees, we hope to support the art market and encourage free registration on our blockchain-backed registry.
The Auction Club site (www.auctionclub.com) has ceased to exist as a stand-alone website and all services will no longer be accessible. If you were a customer of Auction Club, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this might bring you, and we hope you find the free database on Artory to be a better overall experience. Please feel free to reach out to contact@artory.com with any further questions.
